As I walk through the streets of our township, I am constantly reminded of the complex challenges our young people face. Makeshift shacks and Reconstruction and Development Programme (RDP) houses together line the streets, and the afternoons are often filled with the sounds of children left to navigate the world alone. Parents often work multiple jobs, struggling to make ends meet, while others face unemployment, addiction or complete absence from their children’s lives.
Gangs and substance abuse lurk in every corner, threatening to consume our youth and children. But amidst the chaos, I have witnessed glimmers of hope. I have seen young people with a fire in their hearts, eager to break free from the cycles of poverty and violence.
This is why I am humbled to be a part of The Leadership Experience. Our ministry is more than just a program—it is a lifeline for young people who are desperate for direction and purpose. LXP provides a safe space for them to explore their identities, develop their skills, discover their passions and—most of all—meet Jesus.
Our team works tirelessly to create opportunities for growth, mentorship and connection. We believe in the inherent worth and value of every young life, and we are committed to helping them unlock their full potential.
I have seen young leaders emerge from our ministry, equipped with the skills and character to drive positive change in their communities. I have watched families be strengthened, as parents and caregivers find support and guidance. And I have heard the streets, once filled with the sounds of desperation, begin to echo with the sounds of hope and laughter.
It is a privilege to be a part of this journey—to witness the transformation that takes place when young people are given the chance to thrive. And I am grateful for the trust our community has placed in us, allowing us to be a part of their lives.
